You guys, I can’t stop. Every time I get our home to a point that I think I’m happy with, I find something else to do! When we moved in, Ian and I dreamed about adding french doors to our living room leading to a side patio overlooking the lake. Well… we did it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the light coming in. But once it was done, it seemed somehow incomplete.
My solution was a half wall of shiplap to finish off the look. If you have some experience with a miter and jigsaw and own the right tools, it’s a quick afternoon project. If you’d like to learn what I did, you can read my tutorial here!
Once I saw all of that beautiful bright white trim around our new french doors, I felt motivated to paint out our window trim in the living room and kitchen to match. It’s amazing how something so simple can make such a difference!
Lastly (and still in progress), we finally got around to replacing the ratty old carpet! I searched and searched for months to find the right flooring. With little ones and a dog, it was hard to commit to such a large purchase knowing it may get scratched or wet! But I am so glad we jumped on it. Since the real hardwood I was dreaming about was far out of our budget, we ended up installing a laminate from homedepot.com called Vermont Maple with pergo gold underlayment. *Side note: What I love about Home Depot is that they will deliver most things free of charge. We ordered a pallet and they put it right in our garage! It ties into our current trim so we can potentially keep some of the honey oak if we decide to 🙂
That’s where I’m at! I have a few more projects to tackle in the main living space. I’ll be sure to update photos as I go!
